ACS/ASPS offer health policy scholarship – deadline Feb. 1

The American College of Surgeons (ACS) and ASPS are offering a scholarship to attend the May 20-26 "Executive Leadership Program in Health Policy and Management" at Brandeis University, Waltham, Mass.

The deadline for receipt of all application materials is Feb. 1. Applicants will be notified of the Selection Committee's decision by March 31.

The $8,000 award will support the recipient during the scholarship period for expenses related to meeting attendance, application reviews, providing assistance to ACS and ASPS, and participating as a pro tem member of both organizations' health policy committees.

A brief review of the scholar's experiences and activities is due at the end of the scholarship period. A simple accounting is also required.

Eligible applicants must be members in good standing of both ASPS and ACS, and between 30 and 60 years old on the date the completed application is filed. Applicants who have submitted a comparable application to other organizations are welcome; however, the scholarship, if awarded, will be withdrawn if the recipient accepts a similar scholarship.The recipient is responsible for notifying the ACS Scholarship Section of this development.
