Carolin BergerCarolin Berger, 23, an adult film star and popular contestant on Germany's version of the reality TV show "Big Brother," died Jan. 20, nine days after falling into a coma during her sixth breast enlargement procedure. Two Hamburg physicians - Berger's surgeon and anesthesiologist - have been charged with negligent manslaughter in connection with the death, according to a report posted Jan. 24 on CBSnews.com.

Berger, who was known nationwide as "Sexy Cora," suffered two heart attacks while undergoing the Jan. 11 procedure to increase her breast size from 34F to 34G, CBSnews.com reported. The procedure - which took place at a clinic in Hamburg - involved the injection of 28 ounces of silicone into each breast, according to satellite TV's Sky News.

Sky News reports that Berger's previous surgeries were performed at a clinic in Poland that refused to operate on her for a sixth time.

"There are easy ways to rule out candidates for surgery - people with unreasonable expectations, body dysmorphic disorder, or who want things that look bizarre or are unsafe," ASPS member Steven Teitelbaum, MD, Los Angeles, told Allure magazine when asked about the tragedy. "There is no standardization about when enough is enough."

Several news outlets reported that Berger's heart attacks during the procedure led her to be deprived of oxygen for 15 minutes, according to London's Daily Mail Online.

A statement from the clinic obtained by CNN said the doctors were "extremely upset and deeply regret the death."

Berger gained fame during her participation on "Big Brother," where strangers are confined to a house for three months, vie for cash prizes and avoid eviction, while cameras throughout the house record their activities nonstop.
