Congress passed "fiscal cliff" legislation on Jan. 1, which halts a number of scheduled tax increases as well as a 27 percent Medicare physician payment cut resulting from the flawed Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) formula. ASPS will urge the new Congress to permanently repeal the unsustainable SGR formula.

An additional 2 percent cut due to the "sequestration" provisions of the Budget Control Act of 2011 has been delayed for two months. ASPS will continue to fight such arbitrary cuts that fall on top of already mandated SGR cuts.
