ASPS, Provista partner to offer savings to plastic surgeons
ASPS has announced a partnership with Provista, LLC, a leading supply chain improvement company, to launch Access Medical Purchasing (AMP) – a free program specifically designed to provide both aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery practices with discounts on many of the products and services they use every day.
ASPS and Provista, along with the Society's preferred distribution partner Henry Schein, will unveil the procurement program at the Society's annual meeting, Plastic Surgery 11 THE Meeting, Sept. 23 - 27, in Denver.
"Access Medical Purchasing will provide our members with an avenue to avoid practice consolidation or mergers, and instead take the path to remain independent and financially viable," says ASPS President Phil Haeck, MD. "AMP offers tremendous value-add for our members. There is no better place to launch it than at Plastic Surgery 2011."
AMP was formed to provide Society members access to more than 1,000 supplier contracts for discounted products and services used by plastic surgeon practices and leverage Provista's purchasing power of nearly $40 billion. AMP and Provista will continue to develop contracts with key vendors that focus on the plastic surgery specialty.
"The new program will help members of the Society achieve needed supply chain savings during this challenging economy," says Eleanor Waddell, vice president at Provista. "We welcome the opportunity and are committed to working closely with members to help drive down their supply chain costs and increase patient care."
In addition to the savings related to products and services members have access to through Provista, AMP also has negotiated discounts on distributor markups for products that are purchased through its preferred distributor Henry Schein. These distributor discounts, combined with the cost savings on products and services, offer AMP members unparalleled opportunities to reduce practice expenses.
"AMP couldn't have come at a better time," says Dr. Haeck. "Turbulent economic conditions, growing uncertainty in reimbursement rates and procedures, increased competition and mounting pressure for solo practitioners and small practices to join larger health systems is a point of concern for many ASPS members. AMP will help to make independent practices more competitive - and give all plastic surgeons a fighting chance to secure their financial autonomy.
"Through its affiliation with the Society, AMP will help members increase their bottom line," Dr. Haeck adds. "There isn't a practice model that won't benefit from participation in this program."
